A few days ago we at Atipici shared the images of a unique sneaker, the result of an imaginary collaboration between Jordan and Amuchina; had you seen her?
If many of you played along, sharing and appreciating the tone with which we chose to play down the pandemic situation, there were quite a few actual requests for information about the release method of the shoe... come on guys, are you serious?
It is also true that collaborations today are an expanding field from which combinations emerge daily that were previously unsuspected (what do you think of Chiara Ferragni for Oreo? ) and that both Nike and Jordan in recent years have not held back when they it was about surprising us with unexpected collaborations...but Air Jordan x Amuchina would have been really too much!
In any case, perhaps this is the right opportunity to review all (or almost all) of AJ1's collaborations... and to try to imagine what to expect for the future.

The first collaboration recorded for the AJ1 was the one with the denim giant Levi's: the two brands launched a model with attention to the smallest details in which the red leather upper alternated with the elephant motif made of denim and the eyelets were inspired by buttons of the iconic jeans.

The story of the second AJ1 collaboration is the story, at times moving, which sees the American giant choosing to create a shoe based on the design of a young patient of the Doernbecher pediatric hospital, Tony Taylor, and to donate part of the proceeds of its sales ( 600 thousand dollars, to be exact) at the hospital itself.

Almost twenty years after the release of the timeless album "The Low End Theory" by A tribe Called Quest, Nike gave Hip Hop Heads around the world an AJ1 that celebrated the iconic graphics of that album.

This collaboration with the English artist Dave White did not immediately have the desired effect. Perhaps for the aspect that is more of a piece of art than a shoe to wear, or perhaps for the patriotic post-September 11 inspiration reinterpreted by a British and not American artist, but on the day of its release the model received a lukewarm reception from part of the sneakerheads of the time, only to then enter the reselling mechanisms immediately afterwards and reach astronomical values.

On the occasion of the Portland event, TEDx selected the AJ1 as the perfect shoe... Obviously our friends from Austin didn't have to be told twice and launched this Air Jordan 1 in a double colorway in which the concept was explained in no uncertain terms: with a huge “PERFECT” writing along the entire sole.
